Bhubaneswar: The Cyber Crime Helpdesk of Bhubaneswar urban police district (UPD) has been receiving 40-50 calls pertaining to cyber fraud on an average per day, informed Bhubaneswar Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Uma Shankar Dash here today giving an idea on the increasing number of cyber crimes taking place these days.
“In the last three days we have received nearly 50 calls from Bhubaneswar UPD and nearly 70 calls from outside Bhubaneswar,” said Dash.
“As per our analysis most of the fraud cases are through UPI transactions or ATM card transactions,” he added sharing details of the type of frauds.
While informing that the helpdesk is meant only for Bhubaneswar UPD, Dash cautioned people against sharing One Time Password (OTP), personal details like Aadhar Card number, etc with others, clicking on unfamiliar URLs, etc to avoid falling victim to cyber fraud.
