Bhubaneswar: In a brutal incident, the staff of a private de-addiction center in Bhubaneswar allegedly beat an inmate to death on Wednesday.
According to reports, the deceased has been identified as Sarbeswar Behera. He was being treated in a private de-addiction center here.
The Mancheswar police arrested three people in connection with this incident on Wednesday. The arrested persons include the owner of the private de-addiction center and two employees.
Sources said that the deceased inmate was beaten to death. The authorities of the center were taken to the Mancheswar police station and a case of physical abuse was registered against them.
The death of the inmate has created resentment and anger over the reports that inmates of various de-addiction centers in the state are often subjected to mental and physical torture. Besides, various atrocities are committed against them.
