Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Writes To Odisha CM, Denies Covid Violations

Bhubaneswar:   Soon after the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) sealed her office here in the capital city in the wake of media reports displaying a viral video evincing blatant violation of Covid guidelines at the recent birthday party celebrations of local MP Aparajita Sarangi, today she dashed a letter to Odisha Chief Minister-cum-BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik defending herself as well as demanding sealing of BJD Party Office here.

Her letter has also been appended with several photographs for evidence in a bid to prove the same violation by certain BJD ministers and leaders on various occasions.

The letter mentions, “I am writing to you in the context of sealing of my office by the BMC on the grounds of congregation, mask wearing violation and lack of social distancing. I appreciate the alacrity with which BMC has taken this action; however, it is the selective nature of BMC’s action which raises suspicion regarding the intent behind such enforcement.”

She argues, “I have come across innumerable instances of violation of Covid-19 Regulations at BJD Party Headquarters as well as by the Ministers, MLAs and party workers of BJD. While no action has been initiated against such violations, the sealing of my office, that too, without detection of a single Covid positive case in my office or among my supporters who were present in the office, does deserves answer from your Government.”

“I am enclosing herewith specific evidence of violations and would expect you to take equally strong action as has been done by targeting me. The action of sealing the office of a sitting MP smacks of partiality and vindictiveness,” the BJP MP alleges in her letter and demands, “Given the flagrant violations at the BJD Party Office, I would also be looking at when the BJD Party Office will be sealed.”
