Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi’s Office Sealed For Covid Norms Violation

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) sealed the office of the MP Aparajita Sarangi after videos surfaced on gross violation of Covid norms during her birthday celebration.

Sarangi’s office in Palaspalli area under Airfield police limits was sealed for two weeks starting from Saturday (October 9). This time period would be used to sanitise the space before it is deemed fit for use, said the press release from the BMC.

The letter added that after verification of the said video, it was found that ‘there is a clear cut violation of the Odisha COVID-19 Regulations 2020 in terms of the bar on Congregation (Clause 4-C), violation of maintenance of physical distancing norms (Clause 4-D) and compulsory mask-wearing norms (Clause 4-A)’.

The order also sought to identify participants of the said birthday party of Bhubaneswar MP (held on October 8) so that they could be reached out to be tested for COVID-19.

Yesterday, Minister of State (Mos) for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra wrote a letter to his counterpart in the Union Government, MoS for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai drawing the latter’s attention to the rules flouting birthday celebrations of Sarangi. Mishra added that this was not the first time where the first-time MP was seen showing complete disregard to regulations.
