Bhubaneswar: With Holi, the festival of colours, just around the corner, the Commissionerate Police has released guidelines to ensure safe celebrations. The police have advised against taking a bath in rivers or pools after consuming alcohol, warning that playing Holi under the influence of alcohol will lead to arrest, said Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena.

To maintain order, police and fire department personnel will be deployed at all river ghats. The PCR will also intervene to prevent traffic congestion caused by Holi celebrations on the roads. Additionally, 20 platoon forces will be stationed in the capital city on Holi Day.

The police will also crack down on the illegal liquor trade and prohibit the sale of chemical colours, allowing only herbal colours to be sold, the DCP added.

Holi celebrations are scheduled to take place on March 15, and the city is already immersed in a festive atmosphere. People are opting for organic colours made from natural ingredients, which are gentle on the skin. However, it’s essential to identify genuine organic colours to avoid being misled by counterfeit products.

The Commissionerate Police’s efforts aim to ensure a safe and enjoyable Holi experience for all, Meena said.
