Bhubaneswar: Several teams of police today checked medicine stores under Laxmisagar police limits in order to prevent black marketing of face masks, hand wash and sanitizers. The officials also instructed them to refrain from such activities or face legal action.

Yesterday, the Central Government decided to bring masks and hand sanitizers under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955 in wake of the coronavirus outbreak in the country. The act helps regulate the production, supply and distribution of a commodity in order to make them available to consumers at fair prices.
