Bhubaneswar: The heat wave condition prevailing across Odisha is becoming intolerable with the passing of each day. With no sign of monsoon rains anytime soon, the capital city Bhubaneswar recorded 30.2°C at 5.30 am on Friday. The humidity level stood at 92 per cent.
According to the regional office of the India Meteorological Department, the day temperature (maximum temperature) is likely to remain high till June 18 making increasing the discomfort. The IMD has predicted that the monsoon will reach Odisha after 3 days.
On Thursday, Jharsuguda was the hottest place in Odisha recording 42.2°C. As many as eight places in the state recorded temperatures above 35°C. At Hirakud, the maximum temperature recorded was 41.4°C.
As the influence of Nor’wester will decrease across the state, the heat wave is expected to continue for a few more days. The weather office has predicted that the day temperature will decrease by 2°C to 3°C after that.
Meanwhile, the IMD issued a heat wave to severe heat wave alert for various districts of Odisha on Friday. People have been advised to refrain from stepping outside the house between 11.00 am and 3.00 pm unless unavoidable.

- Sambalpur: 36.4°C
- Hirakud: 36°C
- Keonhar: 34.8°C
- Bhubaneswar: 34.2°C

- Chandbali: 33.6°C
- Gopalpur: 33.2°C
- Puri: 33°C
- Paradip: 32.2°C
