Bhubaneswar: A distressing incident unfolded in the Capital City when a Class VIII student of a government school went missing on Monday afternoon, only to be traced and rescued at Capital Hospital around 9:30 pm.
As per reports, the minor girl, a resident of the Airfield police station area, had missed her school bus after classes ended and was waiting in front of the school when she was allegedly kidnapped by two youths on a motorcycle.
The girl had informed her family about missing the bus, and her guardians had reached the school to pick her up, but she was nowhere to be found. After desperate search, the girl’s family filed a missing complaint at Bharatpur police station following which police launched a search operation to trace the missing girl. Besides, a cash reward of Rs 25,000 was also announced for anyone providing information about the girl’s whereabouts.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the two youths had approached the girl, sprayed some substance on her face, and taken her away on their motorcycle. However, as the police intensified their search, the accused reportedly abandoned their plan and dropped the girl at Capital Hospital.
A woman security guard on duty noticed the girl sitting alone on the hospital premises and asked her about her condition. She was not in a position to say anything and she lost consciousness.
The girl was first admitted to the paediatrics department and later shifted to the obstetrics and gynaecology department for medical examination. Her treatment continued till late night, following which she was handed over to her family. The girl is currently in a state of shock and could not provide detailed information about the incident.
Meanwhile, police are continuing their investigation into the matter, and efforts are being made to identify and apprehend the accused.
