Bhubaneswar: A security guard allegedly stabbed a woman to death in Bhubaneswar allegedly over a one-sided love on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Baijanti Sahu of the Naugaon area in Jagatsinghpur district, while the accused – a former security guard at the GGP Colony here – has been identified as Ramesh Barik.
According to reports, Ramesh was infatuated with Baijanti but the latter ignored his responses. Enraged over such neglect, Ramesh stabbed Baijanti with a sharp knife on Tuesday injuring her critically. Baijanti was rushed to a nearby hospital in Bhubaneswar with a stomach injury but later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital as her condition deteriorated.
Baijanti succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at SCBMCH. Her family has filed a complaint in connection with the incident at Mancheswar police station. Meanwhile, the police reached the spot and initiated a probe into the matter.
According to the initial probe, Ramesh stabbed Baijanti over a one-sided love.
