Bhubaneswar: International flight services from Bhubaneswar to Singapore have been suspended in view of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) Director Prasanna Pradhan said on Monday.
The suspension comes after earlier disruption of flight operations to Dubai, also attributed to the geopolitical situation in the region. At present, only one international service from Bhubaneswar — connecting to Bangkok — remains operational.
Meanwhile, the airport has released its summer schedule for the current year, under which several domestic routes have been temporarily discontinued. Flight services to Indore, Dehradun, and Kochi have been suspended due to seasonal demand fluctuations.
Clarifying concerns, Pradhan said there is no shortage of aviation fuel and that the suspension of certain services is purely due to operational and seasonal considerations. He reiterated that the affected routes have been closed for the off-season and not due to any technical or fuel-related issues.
