Bhubaneswar: Special Squad of Bhubaneswar police and staff of Saheed Nagar police station have arrested a gang of four robbers, popularly known as the Irani gang, informed Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh.
Singh said the police have recovered 17 gold chains having a combined weight of around 200gms, five motorcycles and three mobile phones from the gang’s possession.
They have been identified as Zahir Hussain, Sanoj Kumbhar, Kismet Ali and Sikandar Ali and all of them are residents of Jonk area in Nuapada district, the DCP informed.
Explaining on the why the gang was being called Irani gang, the DCP said that the ancestors of the gang members had their origin in Iran who had come as horse traders and had in the course of time settled in Jonk area of Nuapada district.
The gang members were involved in snatching using speed bikes, the DCP added.
