Bhubaneswar: A state-of-the-art auditorium will be set up at Sahid Nagar in Bhubaneswar. A decision in this regard was taken at the 26th General Council Meeting of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Chaired by Mayor Sulochana Das, the meeting focused on enhancing the city’s infrastructure and beauty, particularly ahead of the upcoming Global Investors Summit and Pravasi Bharatiya Divas.
To facilitate smooth navigation, the council decided to clear encroachments from major roads. Additionally, city roads will undergo beautification, including the installation of solar-powered street lights. Wooden street vendors will be allocated designated spaces.
BMC will organize Path Utsav in three city zones next month, promoting local culture and heritage. The council also identified locations for the neighbourhood market, aiming to provide organized vending spaces.
As per the council’s decision, public amenities will receive a boost, with the renovation and construction of new toilets. Solar-powered water kiosks will be installed across the city. Permanent traffic shelters with solar lighting will be built, ensuring commuter convenience. Ongoing covered slab work in various wards will continue, improving local connectivity.
Most importantly, a state-of-the-art auditorium will be constructed in Sahid Nagar to enhance cultural infrastructure.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Mayor Manjulata Kanhara, BMC Commissioner Rajesh Prabhakar Patil, Additional Commissioners, Zonal Commissioners, elected representatives, and corporate officials. The approved proposals will be sent to the Standing Committee for final approval.
With these initiatives, BMC aims to enhance Bhubaneswar’s aesthetic appeal, infrastructure, and quality of life, making it an attractive destination for investors, tourists, and residents alike.
