Bhubaneswar: The sleuths of National Investigation Agency (NIA) today apprehended a youth from the Khandagiri area for his alleged links in illegal arms and ammunition deal with the terrorists.
The NIA, with the help of Odisha Crime Branch (CB), pounced down on the youth and took him away to an unknown location for interrogation before the further course of legal action.
The NIA is a central agency to investigate into terrorist activities which was created especially after the Mumbai terror attack on December 26,2008 while the new agency came into being on December 31 same year.
Reacting to the media reports, Twin City Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi informed that the NIA is interrogating a student at the Khandagiri Police Station here for his alleged links in an ongoing investigation by the central agency.”
“As per information received by us, it isn’t linked with terrorism. Media is requested not to speculate unnecessarily on the matter,” he said.
The Police Commissioner added that the NIA team has left after speaking to the student and no one is detained or arrested.
