Bhubaneswar: Laxman Pradhan, who attempted self-immolation at Kesura village under Badgada police limits in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday, succumbed to his burn injuries while undergoing treatment at the Capital Hospital on Wednesday.
The deceased was a resident of Kesura village under Badagada police limits in Bhubaneswar.
According to reports, Laxman returned home on his scooter on Tuesday morning but did not go inside the house. Instead, he took out a bottle of petrol, poured the fuel on him, and set himself on fire. The shocking incident was captured on a roadside CCTV camera as well as witnessed by a few neighbours.
He was rushed to the Capital Hospital in critical condition and succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday morning.
On being informed, Badagada police reached the spot and the hospital and launched an investigation into the tragic incident. However, they are yet to ascertain the reason why Laxman took such an extreme step. According to some neighbours, a family dispute could be the reason why the youth ended his life so painfully.
