Cuttack: Judicial Officer Bibhu Prasad Routray took oath as the Orissa High Court judge here on Friday.
He was administered the oath by Chief Justice of Orissa High Court Justice Kalpesh Satyendra Jhaveri at the new conference hall of High Court Old Building located in the silver city.
Present at the event were all the incumbent judges, Judicial Officers, Lawyers and several senior Government officials. Twin City Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi, Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Sahoo and SRC Pradeep Jena were among the several dignitaries who attended the event.
A Judicial Officer, Routray’s name was recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium in a resolution dated October 3. With his appointment, the working strength of the Orissa High Court will rise to 15 judges, as against a sanctioned strength of 27.
1970-born Justice Routray began his illustrious career as a Sessions Judge of Sambalpur district. After this stint, he was appointed as Berhampur’s second MACT member in 2010, Law Department’s Additional Secretary in 2011. Then he was posted as Sessions Judge at Sambalpur and then a judge at Bhubaneswar Court.
From May 2015 to June 2018, he worked as Principal Secretary of the Law Department. Before becoming a judge at Orissa High Court, his last posting was as a Sessions Judge in Ganjam district from July 2018.
