Balasore: The Remuna police arrested a man on Tuesday in connection with a firing incident that took place in 2024.
The man has been identified as Lambu, alias Chandramohan Jha, a resident of Phulhara village in the Samastipur district of Bihar.
According to Balasore Superintendent of Police (SP) Raj Prasad, the firing incident occurred in 2024 when the victim, SK Jasim, was shot by a group of miscreants while returning home from Somanathpur.
“In connection with this case, we had previously apprehended Sanjay Singh, alias Sanjay Giri, who was forwarded to court. Recently, we received credible intelligence that one of the gang members, Chandramohan, was traveling to Bampada Chhak in a Bolero vehicle. Based on this tip-off, our special team acted swiftly, reached the location, and arrested him,” SP Prasad said during a press conference.
Further investigation revealed that Chandramohan had been jailed in 2007 for a criminal case and was released in 2023. He is also allegedly involved in various illegal activities.
“We are currently interrogating him to determine the extent of his involvement and to identify other members of his criminal network,” added SP Prasad.
In addition to the arrest, the police seized an automatic pistol, eight live rounds of ammunition, two magazines, Rs 14,000 in cash, and the Bolero vehicle. Further inquiries are ongoing to ascertain more details.
