Bhubaneswar: In commemoration of the 105th birth anniversary as well as the 24th death anniversary of former Odisha Chief Minister-cum-Biju Janata Dal (BJD)’s icon Biju Babu, the ruling party has decided to mark the occasions by holding a massive cycle rally and blood donation camps.
Both the events will be organized from March 5 (birth anniversary) to April 17 (death anniversary) as advised by its supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
It has been decided that the cycle rally will start from Biju Babu’s birthplace Anand Bhawan in Cuttack city to his statue at Bhubaneswar airport.
A BJD press communiqué informed that BJD’s organizational secretary and Jajpur MLA Pranab Prakash Das will grace the cycle rally.
The cycle rally marks the historic and adventurous 4500-km-long cycle tour of Biju Babu from Cuttack to Peshawar (now in Pakistan after partition) in 1932.
Similarly, rich tributes will be offered to Biju Babu by organizing BJD’s pet programme ‘Jeevan Bindu’ (voluntary blood donation camp) till his 24th death anniversary on April 17.
BJD today informed about the programmes by issuing a press communiqué signed by BJD (youth affairs) state general secretary Pranab Kumar Balbantray, Biju Yuba Janata Dal’s state president Byomkesh Ray and Biju Chhatra Janata Dal state president Debi Ranjan Tripathy.
