Balasore: Balasore police have busted a bike lifting racket with the arrest of three persons including a reporter of a web channel, who is the principal accused.
Police have recovered 22 stolen two wheelers—16 scooters and 06 bikes, one car, one laptop, two mobile phones, Rs 56,970 in cash and 16 nos. of keys of different two wheelers from their possession.
The arrestees include a receiver, aged about 37 years of Sunhat, Balasore.
“On 27th January Oupada police received confidential information on stolen bikes. Based on that Oupada IIC conducted a raid in the Badapokhari area in which 13 bikes having fake registration number plates were seized,” informed Balasore SP, Sagarika Nath addressing a presser here today.
Nath said that following a detailed investigation police came to know that a few more stolen bikes were in Sahadevkhunta police limits.
“A joint team comprising of City DSP and Sahadevkhunta IIC was constituted and nine more bikes were recovered. The principal accused works here as a reporter for a web channel and as of now a total of 22 bikes have been recovered from him. We have also recovered Rs 56,970 cash from his possession. He has 14 cases against his name. The principal co-accused 11 cases against his name. We have also arrested a receiver. A total of three accused persons have been arrested by us till now,” revealed Nath.
She said that these vehicles were stolen from Lalbag, Baripada, Keonjhar and Balasore.
