Bhubaneswar: A young man was killed and his wife was injured after the motorcycle in which they were travelling was hit by a truck on national highway no. 49 near Singharpur under Lakhanpur police limits in Jharsuguda district on Tuesday. However, their 3-year-old daughter has escaped unhurt.

According to reports, the deceased youth has been identified as Nohar Sai (29). He is a resident of Reda village in the Shakti district of the neighbouring State of Chhattisgarh. His injured wife has been identified as Nila Waren.

Nohar and Nila with their 3-year-old daughter were going to their village in their bike when they met with the accident. While they were going to their village from Jharsuguda end, a truck coming from the opposite direction hit them near Singharpur. Nohar was killed on the spot.

While police have seized Nohar’s body and sent it for conduct of autopsy, his wife Nila has been admitted to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Lakhanpur.

The driver of the accident-causing truck has managed to flee the spot. Lakhanpur police have seized the truck and are investigating the matter.
