Bhubaneswar: Tension ran high at Dhrupada overbridge on National Highway-20 in Keonjhar district following the death of a biker in a road mishap.
According to sources, locals held up traffic for three hours near the overbridge after a Narendra Mahanta of Kalasui village was being run over by a speeding truck. As a result, vehicular movement came to a standstill for hours because of the blockade.
As per reports Narendra was on his way home when a speeding truck hit his bike from the rear killing him on the spot. Irate locals held up traffic demanding the construction of humps, installation of CCTV cameras and deployment of traffic police officials as part of measures to prevent accidents in this area.
The agitators staged the road blockade for three hours by keeping the body. They withdrew their protest following the intervention of local police and district administration.
