Jajpur: The historic Maa Biraja Temple in Odisha’s Jajpur district will remain closed to devotees on February 3 in view of President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to the shrine.

According to a notification issued by the Biraja Temple Trust Board, general darshan will be suspended from 5.30 am onwards on the day of the President’s visit. The temple will remain closed to the public throughout the duration of the President’s presence at the temple premises, including during her ‘Pind Daan’ programme, and will reopen only after her departure.

President Murmu is scheduled to arrive in Odisha on February 2 for a five-day visit to the state. She will reach Bhubaneswar on the same day and stay overnight in the state capital.

On February 3, the President will attend the convocation ceremony of Fakir Mohan (FM) University in Balasore as the chief guest. Following the event, she will proceed to Jajpur to offer prayers at the Biraja Temple.

As part of the concluding phase of her Odisha tour, the President will visit Mayurbhanj district on February 5 and 6, where she is slated to participate in several official and cultural programmes.

Meanwhile, in view of the President’s itinerary, the entry gates of Similipal National Park in Mayurbhanj will remain closed to tourists for three days—from February 4 to February 6.

The President’s visit is expected to result in heightened security arrangements and extensive administrative preparations across all districts included in her tour programme.
