Bhubaneswar: Poultry Breeding & Research Farm under the College of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry of Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) here was sealed today as a measure of control and containment Avian Influenza (bird flu).
The farm which was the epicentre of the infection was sealed after completion of combing and disinfection procedure.
Besides, the government today issued a Sanitization Certificate to the farm.
Director of Animal Resources Development, Ratnakar Rout has informed that the Poultry Breeding & Research Farm has been sealed off for three months and in addition to that disinfection will be undertaken every 15 days.
Rout further said that there will no poultry breeding in that farm for a period of one year.
On January 27 bird flu outbreak was confirmed at Poultry Breeding & Research Farm of OUAT.
A three-member Central team had visited the site and had assessed the situation arising out of the outbreak.
Avian influenza could be contained because of the early identification of the outbreak and measures thereafter.
