Bhubaneswar: The parents of Ruchika Mohanty, a student of BJB Autonomous College who committed suicide on Saturday, are staging a protest in front of the college since last night demanding justice for their daughter.
As the suicide note of Ruchika mentioned she was a victim of ragging by three senior students, her father demanded that the accused students should be arrested and punished.
Various student organizations including Naba Nirman Chhatra Sangathan have joined the protest along with Ruchika’s parents. They are demanding an investigation into the suicide case and action against the culprits.
Ruchika was a student of Plus III, Arts at BJB Autonomous College here. She was staying on campus in one of the ladies’ hostels of the institution. Her body was recovered from the hostel on Saturday.
The note recovered during the inquest corroborated the abetment to suicide angle. Police have registered a case under Section 306 of the IPC and investigating further.
