Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) was established on December 26, 1997, to work for the benefit of the people by following the ideals of the legendary Biju Babu.
For 26 years the party has been continuously serving the people of the State and working dedicatedly for the development of Odisha.
Today, due to its service and social commitment, it has gained admirable recognition as one of the best regional party in the country and has become a social movement. BJD, which has metamorphosed into a mammoth tree from a small sapling, will continue to work with dedicated determination for the development of Odisha and its people in the coming days.
BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik gave such assurance to the people of the State while garlanding the statue of Biju Babu near Bhubaneswar Airport today on the occasion of the 27th foundation day of the party. On this occasion, 5T and Nabin Odisha Chairman Kartik Pandian were also present and garlanded the statue of Biju Babu.
As per schedule, foundation day of BJD was observed today with great enthusiasm in all the 147 constituencies of the state.
Lakhs of party workers garlanded Biju Babu’s statue at various places and organized various social welfare programmes. They vowed to devote themselves to the service of the people of Odisha and protect the interests of the State and build a strong, prosperous and self-respecting Naveen Odisha.
BJD flag was hoisted at Shankh Bhavan at 7 am and an oath-taking ceremony was held.
Party vice president Debi Prasad Mishra, general secretary Sanjay Das Burma, Rajya Sabha Member Sasmit Patra were present among others were present on this occasion.
A huge bicycle rally led by Pranab Prakash Das, organization secretary of BJD which left Anand Bhawan in Cuttack at 8.00 AM reached the statue of Biju Babu at the airport at around 9:30 AM in the day.
Minister Ashok Chandra Panda, Yuva BJD Adviser Pranab Balabantaray, Yuva BJD president Byomkesh Ray, Biju Chhatra Janata Dal president Debi Ranjan Tripathy, MLAs Dibya Sankar Mishra, Susanta Rout, Ananta Narayan Jena, Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana Das and several senior leaders took part in the bicycle rally.
On reaching all offered floral tributes at Biju Babu’s statue. On the occasion a blood donation camp was also organised at Sankha Bhawan
