Bhubaneswar: The candidates of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday filed their nomination papers for the bye-election to the Padmapur assembly constituency.
BJD candidate Barsha Singh Bariha and BJP candidate Pradip Purohit filed their nomination papers before the Padampur Sub-Collector.
Barsha is the elder daughter of deceased Padampur MLA Bijay Ranjan Singh Bariha. BJP leader Purohit is former MLA of Padampur.
Similarly, Congress candidate Satyabhusan Sahu also filed nomination for Padampur bypoll today.
The last date of filing nomination papers is today and the scrutiny is on November 18. The last date of withdrawing candidature is November 21. Voting for the bypoll will be held on December 5, while results are scheduled to be declared on December 8.
