Bhubaneswar: Leaders and members of both Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are staging dharna in front of the office of the State Election Commission (SEC) here on Wednesday seeking action against each other alleging the other party’s involvement in election-related offences during the ongoing panchayat polls.
Bhubaneswar (Central) MLA Ananta Narayan Jena questioned why has the SEC not taken any action despite repeated complaints by the BJD. There should be immediate probe and action over the actions of the opposition party that include the attack on polling agents, loot of ballot boxes, and threatening polling parties and voters.
BJP leader Surath Biswal alleged that the ruling party is forcing all government officials to campaign in support of BJD. Despite producing evidence, the State Election Commissioner is not taking any action in this regard. The SEC has been displaying a biased attitude.
