BJD Councillor Murder Case: BJP Leaders Move Orissa HC Seeking Anticipatory Bail

**Cuttack:** After failing to depose before Ganjam police on Thursday, BJP leader and party spokesperson Golak Mahapatra moved Orissa High Court today seeking anticipatory bail in connection with the BJD leader and Chhatrapur NAC Councillor Laxmidutta Pradhan murder case.

Another BJP leader Bhrugu Baxipatra, who was also summoned by Ganjam police, has followed suit and has moved Orissa High Court seeking anticipatory bail.

On January 29, Chhatrapur police had served notices to BJP leaders Golak Mohapatra and Bhrugu Buxipatra in connection with councillor Laxmidutta Pradhan murder case. While Mohapatra was asked to appear on February 7, Baxipatra was asked to appear on February 9, said sources.

Citing health-related problems as the reason for not deposing on Thursday, Mohapatra’s lawyer has sought an additional time of one month for the BJP leader’s appearance.

Pradhan was hacked to death in broad daylight in September 2017 and the prime accused was arrested from Uttarakhand. As many as 19 persons have been arrested so far in the case, stated reports.
