Bhubaneswar: Senior BJD leader Debashish Samantaray has resigned from the post of Vice President (VP) of Senior Citizen Cell, citing dissatisfaction with the party’s recent reorganisation and the designation given to him.

In a strongly-worded letter to the Leader of the Opposition (LOP) and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik, Samantaray expressed disappointment and hurt, saying the ‘in the rank of Vice President” designation was demeaning and humiliating.

“Sir, I doubt that there is any place for loyalists of legendary Biju Babu or your loyalists, who have stood like rock behind your long and illustrious political career, read his letter addressed to BJD Supremo.

He reaffirmed his commitment to the Biju-Naveen line of thought and action, urging Patnaik to take steps to strengthen the party.

“Most humbly I submit sir, I am unable to accept the responsibility IN THE RANK OF VICE PRESIDENT of Senior Citizens Cell. I will always remain merely a worker of BJD and will always remain committed to the Biju-Naveen line of thought and action”, he maintained in the letter.
