Bhubaneswar: Senior Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader N Bhaskar Rao has resigned from the party’s primary membership, citing dissatisfaction with the party’s functioning.
According to reports, Rao, along with Lal Bihari Himirika, announced their resignation at a press conference. Rao expressed his discontent over the appointment of the district president, stating that the decision has hurt the sentiments of party workers. He criticized the appointment of a defeated candidate as district president, while capable leaders were overlooked.
He expressed disappointment that the party’s workers’ sentiments were not considered during the decision-making process. He also announced that he will continue his political journey by launching a new outfit called the ‘Biju Swabhiman Manch’.
Talking to media, Rao said, “BJD’s president selection has hurt everyone’s sentiments. A defeated person has been given the president post, while capable leaders are being ignored. We are not anti-Naveen, but Biju lovers. We will abide by the decisions taken by the workers.”
