Bhubaneswar: Violence erupted in Dharmashala in Jajpur district, as BJD leaders and workers were attacked at a party meeting. The incident occurred at the farmhouse of former MLA and BJD leader Pranab Balabantray, where a meeting of the BJD social media team was underway.
According to reports, a group of youths arrived and began abusing the attendees, leading to a clash between the two groups. BJD workers, including women, were attacked and injured. Many were treated at Dharmashala Community Health Centre, while some seriously injured were shifted to Cuttack SCB Medical College and Hospital.
Former MLA Pranab Balabantray, who reached the spot, alleged that supporters of the Dharmashala MLA Himansu Sekhar Sahoo were involved in the incident. He criticised the police administration for failing to maintain law and order.
Jenapur police have launched an investigation into the incident. BJD leaders and workers staged a dharna in front of the DG camp office in Bhubaneswar, demanding an impartial probe and punishment for the accused.
