Bhubaneswar: School and Mass Education Minister Badri Narayan Patra, the sitting BJD MLA from Ghasipura constituency and candidate from the same seat, protested against the alleged misbehavior of the presiding officer in the sensitive Ghasipura assembly constituency’s Suanpada booth no 276.
Notably, in that booth, the party agents were directed out of the polling booth by the presiding officer. Opposing the move, some locals sat on a ‘dharna’ and when the BJD candidate from that constituency heard about it, he also joined it after some time.
“There was anger among the locals in the area. The polling agents at Mouri, Sainpal, Patsura and Odapada were ousted by the presiding officer Sagarika Mohanty for no reason at all. The polling is conducted without the presence of the agents. There is utter lawlessness here,: told Badri Narayan Patra to the media persons.
Sensing trouble in the area, Rajendra Swain the IIC of Ramchandrapur PS rushed to the spot to take stockof the situation and pacify the agitators.
“The agents of different political parties started to quarrel among themselves and they came out of the polling stations on their own. We have asked the presiding officer to look into this matter,” he informed.
