BJD MLA Prabhat Biswal Gets Regular Bail

**Bhubaneswar:** The BJD MLA from Choudwar-Cuttack Prabhat Biswal was granted regular bail by Orissa High Court against his earlier interim bail. He was accorded the bail on the basis of two sureties of Rs 5 lakhs each, basing on the conditions of the interim bail.

Notably, Orissa High Court on April 24 granted interim bail for two months to Biswal who was arrested for his alleged links with the multi-crore Seashore chit fund scam.

The Choudwar-Cuttack legislator was arrested by the sleuths of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on September 19 night from his Cuttack city residence and his bail plea had been rejected by the Special CBI Court, Bhubaneswar as well as the District Judge and Sessions Court then for which he had been remanded to judicial custody.

However due to health problems then, he instead of being sent to Jharpada Special Jail in Bhubaneswar had been rushed to Cuttack SCB Medical College and Hospital where he had been admitted since then on health grounds.

His prolonged stay at the SCB had also raised eyebrows following which the court had also been moved and his bail pleas were repeatedly rejected by the court.

Eventually, he was granted interim bail by the High Court on April 24 for only two months. He was even seen suffering on the hospital bed when Odisha Health Minister Pratap Jena visited him in SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
