Bhubaneswar: Former Minister and Bhandaripokhari MLA Prafulla Samal’s son Prayaskanti on Tuesday deposed before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Bhubaneswar.
On February 17, the central probing agency asked the father-son duo to appear before it with all the relevant documents pertaining to Barapada Engineering College.
Following ED’s instruction, Prayaskanti deposed before the central probing agency. The ED is supposed to grill MLA’s son in connection with alleged financial irregularities at Barapada Engineering College in Bhadrak.
Earlier, Prafulla Samal appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) February 28 and came out of the agency office in Bhubaneswar after 8-hour long interrogation.
Samal and his son are alleged to have swindled crores of rupees collected from students as fees to buy lands and flats in Bhubaneswar and other places. Though there were complaints against Samal and his son, no action was taken against them. As a result, the case was handed over to the ED.
On February 15, the ED had raided as many as 10 places including six places in Bhadrak and four places in Bhubaneswar belonging to MLA Prafulla Samal who represents Bhandaripokhari constituency.
It had also seized a car and Rs 10 lakh from his son Prayaskanti’s residence at Palaspalli in Bhubaneswar.
Earlier, ED had raided the house of the former principal of Barapada Engineering College which is being run by Samal.
