BJD MP Amar Patnaik Appeals 20 Wealthy Indians To Shoulder Burden Of Covid Vaccination

Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) national spokesperson and Rajya Sabha member Amar Patnaik today appealed top 20 wealthy Indians/Companies to shoulder the burden of vaccinating at least 25% of Indians as part of their duty to the motherland.

“In fact, some of you can, just from one year of profits! If there’s a time to give back, it’s NOW! I’m sure shareholders would agree,” said Patnaik in a tweet from his personal handle @Amar4Odisha.

“I’ll add that while millions of Indians have plunged into poverty in the pandemic, wealth of Indian billionaires has grown substantially during the same time,” he said in another tweet.

The Rajya Sabha member embedded a report ‘Indian billionaires saw their wealth go up by Rs 12.97 trn during Covid-19’ published in reputed business daily ‘Business Standard’ on January 25, this year in support of his statement.

Here is the list of the 20 wealthy Indians/Companies with their net worth provided by Patnaik in his tweet:

While several among the Twitterati have appreciated the BJD MP’s appeal, several have said that it is meant to divert attention from the growing demand among the people of Odisha for free vaccination of all above 18 years by the State government.
