Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) supremo Naveen Patnaik filed his nomination paper for election to the post of party president today.
As per reports, the ruling party holds organisational elections every three years. Patnaik submitted his nomination papers at the party headquarters, Sankha Bhawan, in Bhubaneswar. Given the lack of opposition, Patnaik’s re-election as BJD president is almost certain. Patnaik, the founder president of BJD, is likely to be elected to the post unopposed.
Earlier, the BJD’s Coordination Committee Chairman, Devi Prasad Mishra, announced that Patnaik would be filing his nomination papers.
The BJD’s organizational elections are currently underway, with the party set to announce its new state council and executive body within the next two days. On April 19, the party will officially declare Naveen Patnaik as its president, said sources.
