Bhubaneswar: An orientation programme for the newly elected MLAs of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) will be held at Shankha Bhawan on Sunday. The programme will be inaugurated by Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Odisha Assembly and BJD president Naveen Patnaik while senior MLAs and leaders of the party will impart training on the various working procedures of the Odisha Assembly.
Senior BJD MLA Arun Kumar Sahu told the media that party MLAs will be trained on how to function as efficient legislators and imparted training on other important procedures and various programmes of the House. Senior MLA and former minister Ranendra Pratap will impart training on private member’s bills and privilege proposals while senior MLA Ganeshwar Behera will inform the MLAs about important procedures like vacancy, question period, and special attention notice in the Assembly. Senior leader Santrapta Mishra will train on how to raise issues of public interest and former Director (Research) of Odisha Assembly Shiv Prasad Patnaik will guide the MLAs regarding the various processes of the Assembly. Vikram Keshari Arukh, a six-time MLA, will impart training on the functioning of the various committees of the Assembly.
Senior leaders like Pratap Jena, Ashok Chandra Panda, Pratap Keshari Dev, and Sanjay Kumar Dasbarma will also impart training to the newly elected MLAs of the BJD. Kiikesh Narayan Singhdeo will speak on special attention notices and adjournment motions. Senior leaders Prafulla Samal, Pradeep Amat, Pramila Mallik, Captain Dibyashankar Mishra, Sushant Raut, Byomkesh Roy, Dhrub Charan Sahu, Manohar Ranhari, and Devi Ranjan Tripathi will brief the MLAs on various other important issues. BJD Coordination Committee Chairperson Debi Prasad Mishra will conduct the programme.
