Bhubaneswar: Members of Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD) and Biju Yuva Janata Dal, the youth and students wings of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), staged a protest in front of the Raj Bhavan today, demanding action against the son of Odisha Governor, Lalit Kumar, for assaulting Assistant Section Officer (ASO) Baikuntha Pradhan in Raj Bhavan in Puri.
The protesters, led by BJD Banki MLA Devi Ranjan Tripathi and Chandbali MLA Byomkesh Roy, condemned the incident as an “insult to Odia Asmita” and demanded the governor’s son be arrested and brought to justice.
The incident occurred on July 7 during President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to Puri, where Lalit Kumar and his associates allegedly assaulted Pradhan.
The protesters criticized the state government’s inaction, saying it was akin to “Dhritarashtra’s role in Mahabharat”. They warned of intensifying their protest if justice is not served to the officer.
The protest highlights the growing outrage against the incident and demands accountability from the authorities.
