Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) supremo Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday removed senior party leader Soumya Ranjan Patnaik from the post of party vice-president with immediate effect.

The BJD issued an office order signed by Naveen Patnaik in this regard today.

It is worth mentioning here that for the last couple of months, Soumya Ranjan Patnaik had been criticising the party and its activities in public meetings as well as in the Odia newspaper owned and edited by him. His words and actions have been widening the gap between the senior leader and his party. The BJD leader was especially vocal against the Chief Minister and his personal secretary VK Pandian and the latter’s visits to the different districts to review development activities there.
