Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) members staged a protest in front of Raj Bhavan in Bhubaneswar today, demanding an immediate solution to the fertilizer crisis in Odisha.
According to report, BJD workers alleged that the state government has failed to meet the fertilizer requirements of farmers, despite claims of sufficient stock. As the protest gained momentum, BJD leaders and workers, accompanied by the farmer leaders, attempted to march towards Raj Bhavan to submit a memorandum to the Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati. However, they were blocked by police barricades, leading to a tense standoff.
For a brief period, BJD workers and police personnel faced off, with protesters trying to push past the barricades while police attempted to maintain order. Senior BJD leaders later met the Governor and submitted a memorandum demanding immediate action, said sources.
Meanwhile, the party warned of extending the agitation to the block level if demands aren’t met.
