BJD Suffers Fresh Blow In Bhadrak As Basudevpur Block President Resigns

Bhadrak: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) received yet another setback in Bhadrak district with the resignation of Basudevpur Block President Nagendra Prasad Biswal from the party’s primary membership. Biswal has tendered his resignation to the District President, citing personal reasons.

His exit comes close on the heels of three block presidents—Bont Block President Manoranjan Ghadai, Bhadrak Block Mahila President Urmila Nayak, and Bhandaripokhari Block Mahila President Sumati Sethi—who stepped down from the party on the same day last week. All three leaders had also cited personal reasons for their departure.

The string of resignations has intensified political activity in Bhadrak, triggering speculation that the leaders may be preparing to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The possibility gained traction after State BJP President Manmohan Samal hinted that the three former BJD leaders had already met him and expressed their intent to quit the ruling party.

“Rivers flow and merge into the sea. By uniting people one by one, the BJP has reached its present strength. We do not break other parties. Anyone who wishes to join us is welcome. We are inducting into the party those who will be assets to the organisation,” Samal said, fuelling further speculation about the leaders’ likely switch.

With four block-level presidents leaving the BJD in quick succession, political observers say the developments may have implications for the party’s organisational hold in Bhadrak ahead of future electoral cycles.
