BJD To Hold Week-Long Biju Jayanti Celebrations

Bhubaneswar: The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today announced to have planned for a week-long celebration of the birth anniversary of former Odisha Chief Minister Biju Patnaik across the State beginning March 5-the legendary leader’s birthday.

“The BJD today decided to celebrate March 5, the birth anniversary of Biju Patnaik across the State.  As per preliminary discussions, it has been decided to have a week-long celebration,” informed Sanjay Dasburma, BJD General Secretary to reporters after a preparatory meeting for the celebration of Biju Patnaik’s birth anniversary.

Dasburma said that specific programmes will be finalised and announced for BJD, all frontal wings of the party-Biju Mahila Janata Dal, Biju Chhatra Janata Dal and Biju Yuba Janata Dal in this connection.

He said preliminary discussions were held at today’s meeting for an extensive celebration of Biju Babu’s birth anniversary in all the 33 organisational districts of the BJD.

He, however, added that details of the programmes will be announced later.

The BJD General Secretary stated that since the party has come to power in the State under the leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for the fifth term and State government will be completing five years, therefore Biju Babu’s Jayanti will be observed in a remarkable manner.

He added that different programmes will be undertaken to enlighten the next generation on the sacrifice of Biju Babu in the building of the State, his heroic deeds, his contribution in the freedom struggle of the country, etc.

Senior BJD leader and Chief Whip in the Odisha Assembly Pramila Mallick said that Biju Babu’s birth anniversary will be observed at his birthplace in Cuttack and added that completion of 20 years in government will be observed by the State government.

She said that Biju Babu’s anniversary will be extensively observed at all levels from the State to the block level.

The senior BJD leader echoed the lines of her party colleague Dasburma that it will be a week-long celebration.
