Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) party will launch a protest in the state Capital on January 6 against the state government’s alleged failure to check price hikes of essential commodities.
The protest will be held from Lower PMG to Lok Seva Bhawan, informed senior BJD leader Sanjay Das Burma at a press conference.
Burma criticized the central government, saying that prices have been increasing exponentially since the double-engine government came to power. He ridiculed the government for its failure to decrease petrol and diesel prices despite the global crude oil prices being low.
Burma further stated that the party will fight for the rights and dignity of Odisha people.
BJD’s chief whip Pramila Mallik also accused the state government of neglecting the interests of the common people, saying that former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had always prioritized the welfare of the people, but the current government has failed to do so.
Mallik also slammed the state government, saying “It has been exploiting the common people. She added that if the government doesn’t take the issue seriously, protests will be held at the district level.”
