BJP Believes In 1D, Congress In 3Ds: Venkaiah Naidu

**Bhubaneswar: ** Ahead of gracing BJP’s ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikash’ (SSSV) programme, senior BJP leader and Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu on Monday remarked that BJP believes in 1D (Development) while Congress believes in 3Ds (disrupt, disinformation, defame) the incumbent NDA Government as well as the parliament sessions.

Taking a pot shot at Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, he commented that Rahul is befitting for only photo sessions.

Commemorating the three years completion of PM Modi-led NDA Government at the Centre, the saffron party has been observing ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikash Sammelen’ across the country and accordingly, Union Urban Development Minister graced the function at the slum areas here, especially in Salia Sahi of the capital city.

As per the Odisha unit BJP sources, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) is organising the SSSV at Salia Sahi, Nilachkara Nagar and other places.

On the plaguing Mahanadi water sharing dispute, the Union Minister said that it can be resolved amicably through talks between Odisha and Chhattisgarh.

“Two States should sit together to take a consensus decision on the Mahanandi water sharing dispute issue,” Naidu told reporters when asked to comment on the issue.

He, however, said that if the two States fail to resolve the issue, then they should wait for the decision of the Supreme Court.

“States should not seek intervention of the Prime Minister into all issues,” he remarked.

Odisha’s senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra retorted, “Chor machaye shor! The party who has achieved doctorate in 3 Ds points finger at other. It’s the party (BJP) who has insulted Mahatma Gandhi dubbing him as ‘chatur baniya’, has dishonoured the national flag for 52 years, has attempted to divide India in the names of caste and religion and has created record in disrupting proceedings of Parliament and Legislative Assembly. It’s the party whose forefathers were flatterers of the Britishers and protested against the Freedom Movement. What should be the appropriate epithet for the party? It is should be rather answered by the BJP.”

In his remarks, ruling BJD spokesperson Prashant Nanda told media at a press meet, “Modi Fest is an illusion, an eyewash. BJP Government at the Centre has shut 8 schemes while funds of 33 schemes in Odisha have been cut down. This is a joke on poverty”

“The Centre should give a detail on what it has done in the last three years,” the BJD spokesperson demanded.

He also sought information on the Union Urban Development Minister’s initiatives for development of slum dwellers and the amount of fund granted for drinking water in urban areas.
