Bhubaneswar: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday expelled Himanshu Sekhar Sahu for indulging in anti-party activities and violating party guidelines.
The President of the Odisha Unit of BJP Manmohan Samal took action against Sahu.
According to sources, Sahu strengthened his party base at Dharamasala much before the commencement of the General Elections 2024. However, the BJP allegedly ignored Sahu’s effort and announced Smruti Rekha Pahi as its candidate for the Dharmasala Assembly constituency. This irked Sahu’s supporters who staged a protest in front of the BJP Headquarters office alleging irregularity in ticket distribution.
Supporters of Sahu alleged that despite working tirelessly for years, Sahu was replaced by Smruti Rekha Pahi as the party’s candidate for the Dharmasala seat. It was Sahu who brought thousands of supporters to the BJP fold from the ruling BJD and created a huge base for him in the Dharmasala constituency. As the BJP did not consider their demand, Sahu decided to fight as an independent candidate.
