BJP Files Complaints Against DGP, CP, Bhubaneswar DCP At All Odisha Police Stations

Bhubaneswar: The state unit of the BJP on Friday lodged separate complaints against the Director General of Police, Twin City Commissioner of Police and Bhubaneswar Deputy Commissioner of Police at all police stations across the state over alleged police excesses on BJP Yuva Morcha members during a protest rally on Mahatma Gandhi Marg in the capital city on February 28.

At the same time, the BJP Yuva Morcha activists today decided to stage protests in front of all SP offices in the state from Saturday.

“The BJP Yuva Morcha had taken out a peaceful and democratic rally on February 28 against the deteriorating law and order situation in the state and demanding a CBI probe into the Naba Das murder case. However, cops attacked the activists intentionally to divert people’s attention from the Naba Das murder case. The DGP, CP and Bhubaneswar DCP are responsible for the attack,” BJP leader Jagannath Pradhan alleged, adding, “Though a complaint was lodged at the Capital Police Station in this regard, it was not filed by police. This is a violation of Section 154 of the CrPC and today we are filing complaints against the three at all police stations of the state.”

“A cop was seen kicking a BJP Yuva Morcha activist, which led to a scuffle between the police and our party workers. They have been arrested under Section 307 of the IPC and it shows that the state government is trying to suppress our agitation,” alleged Prithviraj Harichandan, BJP state unit general secretary.

“If our complaints are not accepted at the police stations, we will move the court to file petitions,” he added.

It is worth mentioning here that violent scenes were witnessed on the Mahatma Gandhi Marg on February 28 as BJP Yuva Morcha members clashed with police during a protest rally. Several cops and BJP Yuva Morcha activists were reportedly injured in the incident.
