Bhubaneswar: Senior BJP leader and former minister Sameer Dey fell ill and has been admitted to a private hospital in CDA, Cuttack. He has been admitted to ICU as he is suffering from pneumonia.
He complained of breathlessness and fever following a severe lung infection, according to reports.
Dey was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly three times. He won three consecutive terms from the Cuttack City Assembly seat on a BJP ticket.
Sameer Dey won the 1995, 2000 and 2004 assembly elections. From 2000 to 2004, he was the Minister of Urban Development in the coalition government led by the then Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. Similarly, he was the Minister of Higher Education from 2004 to 2009.
