Bhubaneswar: The BJP has named Ashrit Pattanayak as its candidate for the Pipili by-election. In the 2014 elections, Ashrit contested as an independent candidate and bagged 18,000 votes. In 2019, Ashrit was fielded as a BJP candidate when he got 72,731 votes.
A press release signed by the National General Secretary of BJP Arun Singh revealed the names of 11 candidates for the bye-elections for Lok Sabha and Assembly seats. The details are as below:
Lok Sabha Seats:
- Tirupati – K Ratna Prabha; and
- Belgaum Mangala Suresh Angadi.
Assembly Seats:
- Madhapur, Jharkhand: Ganga Narayan Singh;
- Basavakalyan, Karnataka: Sharanu Salagar;
- Masaki, Karnataka: Pratapgouda Patil;
- Damoh, Madhya Pradesh: Rahul Singh;
- Serchhip, Mizoram: Lalhriatrenga Chhangte;
- Pipili, Odisha: Ashrit Pattnayak;
- Sahara, Rajasthan: Ratanlal Jat;
- Sujangarh, Rajasthan: Kemaram Meghwal; and
- Rajsamand: Deepti Maheswari
