Bhubaneswar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today announced Mamata Mohanta as the party candidate for the Rajya Sabha bypolls from Odisha.
Mohanta,a senior leader of the Kudumi community in Mayurbhanj had recently joined the BJP after quitting the BJD and resigning from the Upper House.
The BJP’s Central Election Committee has approved her name for the Rajya Sabha bypoll.
The party also declared eight other candidates from other States for the RS election.
The elections are scheduled for September 3.
