In 2019, Vaishnaw was elected to the Upper House from Odisha with the support of BJD.
BJD’s two candidates, Debashish Samantaray and Subhasish Khuntia, filed the nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha elections on Tuesday. Vaishnaw’s name was doing rounds for his re-election to the Upper House from Odisha.
The Railway Minister, who hails from Rajasthan, was an Odisha-cadre IAS officer serving Collector of Cuttack and Balasore districts.
