**Bhubaneswar:** Odisha BJP unit on Monday demanded that the forthcoming Monsoon Session of the State Assembly should not be from September 7 as notified as it falls on the following day soon after the mass festival of Nuakhai celebrated across western Odisha.
Talking to media, Odisha BJP president Basant Panda said, “Our legislature party leader K.V. Singhdeo has already apprised the Speaker who also hails from the same western Odisha region and is well aware of the tradition. No MLAs from the region could be able to attend the beginning day of the Assembly session”.
Commenting on it senior BJD leader and Rajya Sabha member A.U. Singhdeo, who also hails from western Odisha, said, “It’s a matter of the honourable MLAs to discuss and solve. I’ve nothing to comment on it. Speaker will take a course. Governor will take a cue on this”.
